NB We are in the process of altering the procedures for joining and setting up syndicates. The instructions below may not be completely correct. If in doubt email Graham or Camilla.
Firstly you'll need to decide which date and event type range you'd like to contribute towards.
At the moment, we can't guarantee easy access to source microfiche or microfilm. The Sources page should help you, particularly as it's updated with your help.
You can either pick an untouched range and start a syndicate going (a syndicate can just be one person), or you can join an existing syndicate and work with others to complete a section.
See the Allocations pages for available event types and date ranges.
If you join an existing syndicate, the members will help get you going.
Knowing roughly where you are and whether you have a fiche reader, or access to one, will help Syndicates know whether they should invite you to join. Either contact the syndicates direct through the Allocations pages, or else join the Syndicates mailing list and announce your availability.
If you wish to start a new syndicate, please email synd-coord@freebmd.org.uk (be sure to say which range you would like).
While you are waiting for a reply, please see the Format page and see the possible options for the entries.
Finally, when you have transcribed some entries and are in possession of the necessary Submitter ID(s) you can Submit them.
If after this, you have problems, please ask Peter Abbott or one of the project leaders for help.
